To Have and To Hold

27 February 2026–7 March 2026

Company of Ten

Main Stage

Synopsis

After sixty years of marriage, Jack and Florence are living in a village in Yorkshire. They’ve refined the art of bickering into something almost elegant, and have carved out a tolerable life. But that life is about to get louder. Their grown-up children arrive, bringing with them concerns, secrets and expectations. Old tensions stir, the rhythms of home are thrown off and buried truths begin to emerge.

A warm, uproarious and sometimes difficult look at love in the second half of life. The Guardian called it ‘a play that touches on ideas around ageing and alienation, care and family love, but focuses on making us laugh.’
