Baron Zeta attempts to use his guile to convince Count Danilo Danilovich to marry the rich widow Hanna Glawari, in order to keep her millions in their impoverished homeland. Unaware of their past attachment, Zeta’s plan is fraught with problems.

Wonderful and well-known tunes weave among scenes full of humour, pathos, misunderstanding, deception and love.
