The Borrowers

17 December 2021–28 December 2021

Company of Ten

Main Stage

Synopsis

Arrietty Clock lives with her parents under the floorboards of a country house. The diminutive family ‘borrow’ from the human owners to furnish their home below-floor. But Arrietty longs for freedom, fresh air, and sunshine on her face.

When they are discovered by the ‘human beans’, they set off to find a new home and their long-lost relations, facing many challenges along the way.

The British Theatre Guide called the play ‘a highly enjoyable two-hour adventure.’ For London Theatre, it is ‘rollicking, rough-and- tumble, laugh-a-minute’. Wales Arts Review remarked that ‘it contains an important and hope-filled message… that it is possible for the little people to triumph.’

This delightful play will enchant young and old alike, making it the perfect festive treat for everyone.

Please note that the wearing of masks at the Abbey Theatre, unless you are exempt, remains mandatory during the show. Thank you for your understanding.
