Synopsis

In 1960s Brighton, the bumbling and permanently hungry Francis Henshall accidentally becomes minder to two men: local gangster Roscoe Crabbe and upper-class criminal Stanley Stubbers.

Chaos reigns as Henshall struggles to keep his two ‘guvnors’ apart, not knowing that Roscoe is actually dead – killed by Stubbers – and is being impersonated by his sister, Rachel, who is also Stanley’s girlfriend, and in Brighton to collect £6,000 from Roscoe’s fiancée’s dad. And that’s just the beginning of the hilarious confusion that ensues.

This award-winning play is a glorious celebration of British comedy: laugh-out-loud satire, slapstick humour, mistaken identity, brilliant characters, superb one-liners and toe-tapping songs. The Daily Telegraph called it ‘comic perfection’ and to the Daily Mail it was ‘the funniest show in the western world’.

Please note that the wearing of masks at the Abbey Theatre, unless you are exempt, remains mandatory during the show. Thank you for your understanding.
