Synopsis

Having lost his older son in the war, Mustafa sets off to bring the body back from Kyiv for burial in their homeland of Crimea. During a difficult road trip, he and his younger son, Alim, are forced to confront their differences, but ultimately their shared grief offers them a way to reconcile. The film explores humanity, understanding and forgiveness in the face of conflict and adversity.

The film, which was screened at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, will be preceded by a short introduction about the social and historical context, and followed, if possible, by a Q&A session with writer/director Nariman Aliev via an online connection to him in Kyiv.

All proceeds to Ukrainian charities.
