Synopsis

Teenager Ren McCormack loves to dance, so is shocked to discover he’s just moved to Bomont in the American Midwest, a town which has made dancing illegal. He sets about trying to reverse the ban with the help of new friends, Willard Hewitt and the rebellious Ariel Moore. But taking on the conservative Town Council won’t be easy, especially as it brings Ren into conflict with the influential Reverend Shaw Moore, whose antipathy to youth culture derives from a dark personal tragedy.

As young people everywhere cope with the after-effects of a pandemic, the themes of creative expression and personal freedom couldn’t be more appropriate. This feel-good musical will leave you feeling uplifted and energised.

The show features hit songs Holding Out for a Hero, Let’s Hear It for the Boy and, of course, the title track, Footloose. LA Weekly said it was “one of the most extraordinary musicals ever to come out of Hollywood. Footloose blends fantastical situations with important issues and balances them perfectly.”
