Every show produced by the Company of Ten – the Abbey Theatre’s resident company – includes a private charity night. At these nights, a selected charity sells tickets to supporters in order to raise funds.

The two charities that will benefit from the charity night of our forthcoming Elgar and Alice are Friends of St Michael’s Church and Mind in Mid Herts (pictured above).

Mind in Mid Herts is a local mental health charity for people aged 16+ based in St Albans, Hatfield, Hertford, Stevenage and the surrounding areas. They say, ‘We understand that everyone’s needs are different. We work in a person-centred way to ensure the people of Hertfordshire’s mental health is supported and respected so that nobody has to face a mental health problem alone. You can self-refer for support at Mind in Mid Herts.

The Friends of St. Michael’s Church (pictured below) raises funds towards the maintenance and repair of St Michael’s Church in St Albans. Their present challenge is repairs to the Church Tower, which will cost more than £100,000. Last year The Friends paid for the whole £20,000 cost of the re-roofing on the Choir Vestry of the Church: the photo below shows the Friends’ Committee in front of the finished work.

The forthcoming production of Pressure will benefit The Royal British Legion Harpenden Branch, which raises funds to support Veterans, Armed Forces personnel and their families.
