Every show produced by the Company of Ten – the Abbey Theatre’s resident company – includes a private charity night. At these nights, a selected charity sells tickets to supporters in order to raise funds.

The beneficiary of our forthcoming production of Silly Cow is the Hearts Milk Bank. It’s based up the road in Harpenden, and provides breast milk to hospital neonatal units throughout south-east England.

Together with the charity, the Human Milk Foundation, the Hearts Milk Bank also supports babies at home whose mothers are ill with conditions that make it difficult or impossible for them to breastfeed.

The two organisations have supported over 25 hospital neonatal units and currently supply over 100 litres of donated breastmilk a month from specially screened donor mothers.

All funds raised from the charity performance will help fund donor milk for sick and premature babies, and babies whose mothers are unable to breastfeed as a result of cancer and other serious illnesses.

You can find out more about the Hearts Milk Bank and the Human Milk Foundation by clicking on the links, and you might even want to volunteer or make a donation.
