The Company of Ten, the resident company of the Abbey Theatre, has been awarded ‘Hero of Hertfordshire’ status by the Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, Robert Voss CBE.
The Lieutenancy of Hertfordshire web site reports generally of Covid-19 actions in the area: ‘It is both inspiring and humbling to see the many hours given freely as individuals seek to serve those around them.’ It reports specifically on the Company of Ten sharing a production online for free, and the Corona Monologues initiative, recently judged by film-maker Mike Newell.
Martin Goodman, Chair of the Abbey Theatre said: ‘This award is testament to our strengths: the ability to nurture new generations of talent and the desire to support one another.’
The Abbey Theatre will be announcing re-opening plans soon.
