Now in its fourth year, STAJE (St Albans Jazz Ensemble) is a big band directed by Andy Baddaley.
The concert on 17 April will be the eighth performance by STAJE and they tell us that they are very much looking forward to returning to the Abbey Theatre for the second time this year.
The band has grown significantly since its conception in 2010 and is constantly welcoming new musicians and vocalists to its ranks.

The April 2013 concert at the Abbey Theatre marked the start of a fresh, innovative, new season for the band with new arrangements being written for each concert, partially to appeal to younger audience members as well as more traditional jazz patrons.
STAJE always aims to present a wide variety of styles from big-band swing and Latin, to Funk, close harmony soul and blues. In this concert, they will also be showcasing some original material, written and performed by some of their vocalists. As always, the audience can expect to see some more intimate instrumental set-ups as well as the full band.
The STAJE aim remains simple: to provide an arena for local musicians to explore exciting repertoire within the Jazz idiom, and meet others who have a similar love of this music.
