Great response to Railway competition

We’re delighted that so many young artists entered our competition to win family tickets to see The Railway Children – showing from 20-23 and 27-29 December at the Abbey Theatre. We were very impressed by the creativity and imagination of the submissions.

The competition closed yesterday, and the judging panel now has the difficult task of selecting a winner and runners-up, who will be announced shortly. The work of all the young artists will be displayed in the theatre foyer during the run of The Railway Children.

Entrants were asked to draw pictures of train travel in 1905, when the play is set, using only materials found at that time: ink, pencils, crayons, chalks or paint.

Tickets for The Railway Children are selling fast, especially for some of the matinee performances, so don’t delay in booking tickets online or by calling the Box Office on 01727 857861.

We are very grateful to the team at the historic St Albans South Signal Box for their help in publicising our competition and the show itself. Their next Open Day is on Sunday 8 December from 2 to 5pm.

Why not go along and get in the railway mood?
