Critics get Bizet with plaudits

The St Albans Chamber Opera has been critically lauded for its production of Carmen at the Abbey Theatre.

In the Herts Advertiser, John Manning said: ‘Once more St Albans Chamber Opera has presented a first class show and has, at the same time, allowed audiences in the city to hear some up-and-coming new singers.’

Meanwhile, Althea Talbot-Howard, on the Opera Talent web site, said it was a production of ‘many delights’ and that the casting ‘hit the bulls-eye with each role’. She also praised the costumes, set and lighting.

SACO will be tackling Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas in May.
