A thrilling and funny double bill

Abbey Theatre audiences have the chance to catch two rarely performed David Mamet plays this week – The Shawl and Duck Variations.

In The Shawl, two men appear to be playing a con trick on a vulnerable woman in order to relieve her of a considerable sum of money. The main protagonist seems to have the gift of spiritualism and uses clever tricks to beguile and deceive his prey. But is it all smoke and mirrors? Be prepared to be fooled at least once!

In Duck Variations, two elderly men sit on a park bench. As they watch and comment on the ducks, they set the world to rights. In the hands of our fantastic actors, this promises to be hilarious.
