Actors hit the piste to learn ski skills

Actors often need to learn new skills for a role, but the cast of On The Piste, which opens on Friday 13 November, had to go that extra mile.

Their preparations took them to the Snow Centre at Hemel Hempstead, for a skiing lesson.

The play by John Godber is set in the ski resort of Chamonix, where two couples, Alison and Chris and Bev and Dave share a French ski instructor, the sexually voracious Tony.

Naomi Jamboretz who plays Alison, explains: “We had to learn some basic techniques because we actually have to ski down a slope on stage, and perform a snow plough.

“Obviously we won’t be having real snow on stage, but, as usual our wonderful set builders have come up with a clever alternative.”

Performances take place on our Main Stage from Friday 13 to Saturday 21 November.
